Fossil shows of watches that work with smartphones

Published

Fossil, a premium watch manufacturer has recently showed off some watches that could pull data from smartphones. Using Bluetooth to connect to phones, the watches display data like missed calls, text messages, calendars, and the weather. It’s pretty much like the Sony Ericsson LiveView minus the colors and fancy touchscreen- which makes you wonder why anybody would bother with the Fossil watch. And because of the phone’s limited resolution, information will be cut off (can’t scrolling be implemented?) The watches will support Android and Blackberry devices at launch, since Apple won’t let their iPhones transmit anything other than regular phone-only information over Bluetooth, and are expected to cost around $200. No official launch date has been announced, but we’ll let you know when we find out. No word about the watch’s battery life, but I assume it’s going to need constant charging since it’s on Bluetooth. How many of you would be interested in getting a watch that displays info from your phone?
