Epic Games will be taking mobile games to a whole new level as they prepare to ship out the Unreal software development kit to iOS developers very soon. The Unreal engine will enable iPhone/iPad developers to design games with cutting-edge graphics that can rival today’s consoles. With games like RAGE and the Citadel demo already on the iPhone, and many more games utilizing this new technology coming out soon, the days of “oh it’s just a phone, it won’t look as good as a dedicated gaming console” are coming to an end. This doesn’t mean that simple games like Angry Birds and Cut The Rope won’t continue to do well- after all, a game is first and foremost meant to be fun and engaging- it just means that there’s no longer an excuse for mobile games to have inferior graphics anymore. Head here for more info about the Unreal engine.
