Apple and publishers are still working out subscription details

According to a report, Apple and publishers are still working out the terms and details for a sanctioned subscription service through Apple’s iTunes store. The holdup has been partly due to Apple’s unwillingness to give away the user’s credit card information to the publishers. According to the latest reports, Apple’s deal has been a 30% cut of the publisher’s revenue from the subscriptions. And to compromise not giving away the credit card details, Apple will be giving the user’s names, mailing address and email address. Apparently publishers are unsatisfied and want more. They’ve even been threatening Apple by suggesting they will be heading to Android tablets instead. But with Apple dominating most of the worlds tablet market; it doesn’t look like Apple will need to budge. But kudos to them for keeping our credit card details safe, let’s see if these negotiations will head anywhere. It doesn’t look like there will be many magazine subscriptions arriving anytime soon, unless they’re willing to take the standalone/free subscription route. How many of you have a paying subscription for magazines/news on your iPad?
