From a device that was intended to only have a niche audience to one that Apple wants every household to have; it sure looks like the iPad has been doing what Apple wants it to do- move off the shelves of stores into the hands of the consumers. There’s no doubt that the iPad has been the best selling tablet to date, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down soon. Especially with the iPad 2 rumors that have been surfacing every now and then – interest in Apple’s tablet device has never been higher. And now, it has been reported that up to 65 million iPads could be shipped by Apple next year. This information stems from the fact that Apple has placed orders for that amount of LCD screens from manufacturers. LG Display will be providing 35 million displays while Samsung and Chimei Innolux will be making up the remaining 30 million. Sounds like an insane number of iPads to sell. Does Apple plan to lower its prices or introduce something so revolutionary that everybody would want one? I guess we’ll just have to see. Android tablet makers had better shape up if they intend to stay in the highly competitive tablet business.
