Android doing better than iOS when it comes to ad-based revenue according to Millennial Media

It’s a generally well known fact that Apple has way more apps in their app stores than Android, and that it’s the most popular mobile operating system in America right now. But according to some research done by Millennial Media- it seems that more Android apps are being downloaded and used. Millennial, currently the world’s largest independent mobile advertising company released a pie chart showing the amount of revenue they make from apps on all devices. Android takes the cake with 54% of their total revenue, while iOS only holds 39%. Symbian held 3%, BlackBerry 2% and other operating systems 2% as well. Though it does show that they make more money from Android advertising, there could be different factors that attribute to the result. More Android apps might be using Millennial Media’s ad services, and there’s a possibility that iOS users are just using apps that don’t contain Millennial Media’s ads. While, the results of pie chart although are accurate for Millennial Media’s own revenue results, I don’t think they should be used as a conclusion that advertising on Android will earn more than on iOS. What do you think?
