Yelp, the free service that allows people to write reviews about businesses (i.e. restaurants, hairdressers, dentists etc) has finally joined the social check-in phenomenon. With their updated app, Yelp users can check into places ala Foursquare. And taking a page from another one of their books, checking in to a place frequently can now earn you discounts and offers from the business that you check in to. Business owners have been looking for a way to reward Yelp users that frequent their establishments, and this is one of their ways of giving back. Users who earn a certificate for an offer can choose to use it right away or save it for a later date. It looks like the social check-in competition is heating up, with the players offering incentives to users who stay loyal to their services. The updated Yelp app is now available on the Android Market or iTunes App Store. Which social check-in services do you use, and do you benefit a lot from the deals?
