Portable 3D screens are now no longer limited to the upcoming Nintendo 3DS. Sharp Japan, the manufacturer of the 3D screens used in Nintendo’s handheld console will be releasing their own phones that feature their special screens- the GALAPAGOS 003SH and GALAPAGOS 005SH (what a mouthful!). What makes the screens on their phones stand out from other 3D displays? Special glasses aren’t required to view the 3D effects. In that aspect, it becomes a whole lot more practical than regular 3D screens that require you to use special glasses to immerse yourself in them. In addition to spectacular visual effects on 3.8″ WVGA touchscreens, both phones run Android 2.2 on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, have WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The 003SH has a 9.6 megapixel camera, while the 005SH has an 8 megapixel camera in addition to a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. No word on pricing but the phones will hit the stores in Japan this December. Let’s hope these babies make it across the sea to our side of the world.
