Sony Ericsson puts the blame on AT&T for the late Éclair

Sick and tired about the constant bashing against them, Sony Ericsson has just released a statement concerning the rollout of Android 2.1 for their Xperia X10 phones. And according to them, the main reason for the delay of the update is the carrier. “Unfortunately, we have no control of that timeline factor. Those requirements are provided to us and we work hard to meet and test them as quickly as we can. In the U.S., the testing process is especially rigorous, and can take months to complete, which is why we cannot announce the timing for availability of the X10 update in the U.S.” with AT&T being the carrier of the Xperia X10 in the States, who else do SE have to blame but them? The worrying part about this is the “months to complete” part of their statement. Will this mean that Éclair will still be in testing next year? Possibly, even after Gingerbread has been announced. Looks like Xperia X10 users will still have to play the waiting game.
