RIM PlayBook will cost $500 and be sold in North America first

RIM’s highly-anticipated debut into the tablet world has just been given a price and a release date. According to DigiTimes that managed to speak to RIM’s Regional VP for Asia Pacific, Gregory Wade, the PlayBook will be launched in the first quarter of 2011 in North America. The PlayBook will only be released to the rest of the world in the second quarter of 2011. The PlayBook will be retailing for $500 – so if you purchase it through a carrier it might be cheaper. Wade also mentioned that the PlayBook will support 4G technologies, so if you’re looking for a tablet that can fulfill your downloading needs, you might want to hold out for this one.
