Nook Color transformed into a cheap Android tablet

Published

on

If you’ve got yourself a Barnes & Noble Nook Color reader and feel that it can do so much more, well you can. Some folks who managed to root (a hack that gives the user permission to modify files they are normally not allowed to) the device, have successfully installed third party apps such as Angry Birds and Launcher Pro on the device- essentially turning the eBook reader into a cheap Android tablet. Though it’ll be a fully functioning tablet, it’s somewhat gimped due to the fact that you’ll be missing features such as the GPS and accelerometer (redundant functions that didn’t need to be in an eBook reader) and no access to the Android Market. But when you’re side loading apps onto the device it’ll be the least of your concerns. Follow the progress of the Nook Color transformation here.
