Nokia shows you how they torture the N8

If you’ve ever wondered about how much testing phones go through before they make it to consumers, Nokia has the answer for you. On the official Nokia blog today, they have released some footage of what happens in the manufacturing factories in China. Thought the video only shows the Nokia in a drop test- the simulation of dropping your phone from the height of your shirt pocket onto a hard surface many times, they also describe the other tests that the phones go through. Some of the tests include: extreme weather- the phones are exposed to extreme temperatures (-40°C to +85°C), humidity- phones are put in a special chamber for weeks to experience humidity levels as high as 95%, clothing- phones are put in special machines to simulate the effect of clothes rubbing against the device, buttons- phone buttons are pressed up to one million times to test their durability. Nokia phones are known to be quite resilient (remember the 3310?), and it’s nice of Nokia to show us what the phones go through before they are put on sale. How many of you have broken a phone by accident before?
