Nickelodeon, one of the biggest names in kids’ entertainment, has just announced a partnership with Budge Studios to develop apps for- you guessed it, kids. Based on Nickelodeon’s hit cartoon series, these interactive storybooks aim to reach out into the family market with stories featuring memorable characters such as Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. The first of several apps to be released for the iPad/iPhone will be Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure which is based on the TV special of the same name. The app will feature a fun holiday-themed story, original songs and interactive mini games, as well as teach Spanish, colors, reading and the value of sharing- elements of the show that Dora the Explorer is known for. More interactive story books will be launched as time goes on, and with Nickelodeon’s portfolio of zany cartoons, you know it’s going to last for awhile. Look out for Dora’s Christmas Carol on the iPad/iPhone on the first of December. No prices have been announced, but expect them to be something kids can afford (or at least beg their parents for). Which Nickelodeon character would you like to see have an app of their own?
