NEC Cloud Communicator resistive touchscreen Android tablet unveiled

NEC has recently unveiled a new interesting looking tablet called the Cloud Communicator and the folks over at netbooknews have released a hands-on video about it. The tablet that is meant to work with cloud services was recently unveiled at GSM Asia in Hon Kong. The Cloud Communicator packs a 600MHz ARM Cortex A8 which will be upgraded to a 1GHz processor when it is launched, and packs a 7″ resistive touchscreen- which is a bit strange considering how most devices are using capacitive screens nowadays- though this makes way for stylus based input which is a plus for those looking to draw or write in calligraphy on the device. The demo device was running Android 2.1, upgrades to 2.2 and 3.0 have been promised for the future. The tablet is said to cost around $400 when it is launched in about half a year. No official word on whether it will reach our shores but the tablet does look trendy, minus its sluggish performance and resistive touchscreen, as evident in the hands on video.
