MySpace to launch iPhone App next month

It seems that the social networking giant that’s been slowly reduced to a shadow of its former glory, MySpace, is still alive and kicking. After deciding to work together with Facebook instead of opposing them, it looks like they have been given a new lease of life. They have just announced the launch of their new mobile site, which is meant to be accessed from iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, Palm, Nokia and BlackBerry devices (surprisingly Windows Phone 7 is absent). Stating the reason for the new mobile site is that a lot of users still log on to their network using phones, so an improved mobile site would help them stay relevant in this business. They also announced an iPhone app that will be focused on status updates like the Facebook and Twitter feed- which I honestly don’t see the point to, especially since the other two networks are bigger and more active. The app will be released in the coming weeks, I guess we’ll see then. But with Facebook already eclipsing MySpace, it’s very unlikely the latter will make a comeback- it should only be a matter of time before they fizzle out or get absorbed. What do you think? Does MySpace stand a chance against Facebook?
