A new messaging app has successfully gone viral (at one point it even hit a peak of 3 new users a second!)- talk about blowing up! Kik is an app similar to BlackBerry Messenger- except that it works on BlackBerrys as well as iPhones and Android phones. Using your data connection to send text messages instead of your regular phone line, if you have a WiFi connection or an unlimited data plan, this essentially translates into free texts to anyone (provided that they are using the app) even if they are in another country. Say goodbye to exorbitant fees when you send texts overseas. At the moment it can only support text messaging, but expect video and picture support to arrive in the future. Kik is a free app that can be downloaded from the App Store, Android Market or the BlackBerry AppWorld. So if you’ve been looking for an alternative way to text for free, give it a shot and let us know how it works for you.
