HTC aims to overcome battery life problems using the cloud

In a recent interview with Pocket-lint, HTC’s chief innovations officer, Horace Luke mentioned that the HTC Sense website will be a core part of the company’s phone strategy in the future. According to him, the full potential of cloud technology isn’t even close to being unleashed, and with HTC Sense, they plan to change that. Because processing data on phones takes a lot of energy to do and batteries aren’t going to be making a giant leap in terms of capacity anytime soon, Horace Luke believes that the cloud is the solution. He stated that by transmitting data to servers for them to compute instead, it would be a more efficient way of conserving battery power on the phone. But something tells me he forgot about the amount of energy it would take to power the 3G/4G radios that will be used to transmit data- unless of course something more efficient comes along in the future. What do you think?
