The US government may disable all in-car mobile phones

In a recent announcement by the US Secretary of Transportation, the US government may require cars to include scrambling technology that would disable mobile-phone use by drivers and possibly passengers. The lack of mobile phone usage should encourage drivers to keep all their attention on driving, and thus increasing toad safety. Just last year, nearly 5,500 people were killed and 500,000 more were injured in distracted driving-related crashes. If this proposal is approved, it looks like the days of in-car communication will be gone. Talk about inconvenient. Then again, it should help save some lives. What about making calls inside the car when you’re hiding from a psycho who is out in the rain?
