Have you ever used the Google Goggles app in your smartphone? Did you find it to be more of a novelty than anything else? Well, for those who wished that Goggles did more, you might be pleased to hear that Google has partnered with Buick, Disney, Diageo, T-Mobile and Delta Airlines so that those companies will extend a portion of their offline marketing to the mobile web platform. Basically, these companies intend to make their print ads recognizable to Google Goggles, letting anyone who snaps a photo with said app on the Android or iPhone to kick off a tailored mobile web experience. No idea on whether this kind of advertising model is going to kick off, and who is going to take the trouble to snap a photo of an ad apart from curiousity in the beginning.
