Google introduces YouTube Remote app for Android phones

The remote control, ahh, what a wonderful invention. Without it, we’d be walking five paces each time we get up to switch TV channels or change the volume. When it first arrived, it was just a simple channel clicker that allowed us to change channels without getting off the couch. Eventually as TVs got more advanced, so did remotes. In today’s world, remotes are very different to what they were back then. Remotes have evolved from cumbersome pieces of plastic that you always manage to lose in between the seats into apps that can be downloaded onto your smartphones. Not too long ago, Apple released the remote control app for their iPhones and now, Google has a remote of their own with YouTube Remote. Just released today, this app for Android phones allows you to control the playback of videos on YouTube Leanback (just log onto your Google account on the phone and on your Google TV/desktop). Now you can see little image previews on your Android phone before you push the video onto the screen of your glorious HD Google TV. Using the app, you can play, pause, rewind, forward, and like or dislike a video. The app is still in beta and can be downloaded for free on the Android Market. So if you have a Google TV or enjoy watching videos on your desktop using YouTube Leanback, give this app a shot and let us know what you think.
