Coby launches Kyros – a 7″ Android tablet

Coby, the manufacturer of mp3 players a few years ago has returned to the scene with a new product in tow- Kyros, a 7″ Android tablet. The Kyros is a WiFi-only touchscreen device, powered by an 800MHz processor with Android 2.1 running the show. The device also sports HDMI output for you to watch your 1080p videos on your HDTV. With only 4GB of memory, it has a microSD card slot which supports up to 32GB of additional memory. And you’ll need the extra memory to take advantage of Aldiko E-Book (an e-book reader that supports the ePub standard) and AppsLib- an app marketplace for users to download and use apps on their Kyros. Though it was last seen on sale for $299.99 at HSN, it is no longer listed which leads us to wonder about where the tablet disappeared to. Let’s hope it makes its way back online or to some stores someday.
