Beautiful Modeler lets you mold clay without making a mess

If you’ve ever wished that you could revisit your childhood to play with clay again just because you weren’t allowed when you were younger (your mom probably told you it would make a mess), technology is your time machine. A designer, Karl D. D. Willis, has come up with a set of apps to let you do just that (no, not travel back in time but play with clay instead). Using an iPad, a computer and the Beautiful Modeler software, you can mold a piece of clay without getting your hands dirty. And you can even do it in the comfort of your own bed! You use the iPad to control a piece of clay that you see on your computer screen, and using hand gestures such as pinching, dragging, pulling and so on, you can manipulate what you see on the screen. And boy, does it look amazing. The virtual sculptures you mold can also be sent directly to a 3D printer. If you wish you can head over to the Beautiful Modeler website to download the source code for the software. Hit the break to watch a video of it in action:
