Another security flaw has been discovered on the iPhone. The Safari browser’s ability to hide the URL of a website can be easily manipulated to trick users. By hiding Safari’s URL bar, websites can secretly lead the user to a phishing website with a fake URL display and can easily trick people into entering their private details. Surely, most people will notice if something fishy is going on. But for every smart and informed user, there is more than one person who will be unknowingly giving away their details for free online. The person who discovered this exploit has been working together with Apple to get it fixed, so look out for a patch in the future, but in the meantime, just be wary of sites you visit. Watch a short video demonstrating the how the fake URL exploit works after the break. How many of you have fallen victim to a phishing scam before?
