Why Android tablets will have trouble competing against the iPad

Moconews has just released an article with some interesting points about why Android tablets will have a hard time going up against the iPad. The main reason that Android will have a problem with is the fact that not all Android tablets have access to the Android Market. And with Google not advocating the use of FroYo on tablets, many manufacturers have decided to not pay any heed to Google’s words and released tablets running FroYo instead. This has caused Google to pull back Android Market support for these tablets, and only offering it to tablets that have passed the Android Compatibility Test and been under scrutiny from the Android Compatibility Team. The main reason that Google doesn’t want the Android Market on tablets is because its apps have been designed for small screens with smaller resolutions and haven’t been optimized for the tablet. Because of that, a lot of apps have issues running on the larger tablets as opposed to the phones they were designed for. Without a good app market, the experience on the Android tablet will never be on par with the iPad because the experience has been all about the software. If you own an iPad or an Android tablet, what made you choose one over the other?
