AMD teams up with Intel and Nokia to work on MeeGo

In some shocking news today, it looks like AMD will set aside its differences to work together with long time rivals, Intel. AMD has announced that they will be working together with Intel on Nokia’s open source operating system: MeeGo. The open source operating system is a mix of Intel’s Moblin (mobile Linux) and Nokia’s Maemo. AMD’s role in this project is to offer their APUs- accelerated processing units (processors that combine CPU and graphics processing in the same chip). Looks like AMD will be entering the mobile phone industry with a splash. With three big names behind the operating system, in addition to the interest of the open source community, it looks like MeeGo might turn out to be a winner here. What do you think?
