Finland To Use 1800MHz For LTE

Published

on

2.6GHz is probably becoming everybody’s preferred spectrum for LTE in Europe, but it looks like Finland is deciding to take another direction and use the 1800MHz band instead, a spectrum which carriers TeliaSonera, Elisa and DNA have already snapped up. The frequency is said to be better for range and penetration, so there will be less base stations needed. The problem remains that spectrum diversity will make hardware availability more of an issue, though since Nokia is in Finland anyways, we’re fairly sure getting Nokia to come up with 1800MHz devices shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
