It’s amazing the number of devices that sport Bluetooth nowadays, and for many people, Bluetooth has become a part of their daily life. It looks like Bluetooth is set to take another step forward, as Bluetooth 3.0 will be announced by the Bluetooth SIG this on the 21st of April. If reports filtering are accurate, Bluetooth 3.0 will rely on Generic Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP), and is thus able to operate at Wi-Fi speeds, which should make file transfers between two Bluetooth 3.0 devices much faster. If that wasn’t appetizing enough, Bluetooth 3.0 will also feature EPC (Enhanced Power Control), which should do a good job of reducing the occurrence of disconnects between devices. A list of chip manufacturers that support Bluetooth 3.0 will be made known on said date.
