Skype Handles More International Calls Than AT&T

We talk about the international telcos being huge organizations, but sometimes it’s easy to overlook the popularity of Skype. According to recent research, it seems that Skype has become the world’s largest single provider of international calls, surpassing that of even telcos like AT&T. Of course, due to most of Skype’s usage being free, its profits will probably be less than that of telcos, but we’re not complaining. At eBay’s annual meeting earlier this month, the company stated that Skype raked in about $550 million in 2008. It’s certainly a fair bit of money to have, especially in such tumultuous times.
