RIM Supports Universal Phone Charger?

Published

on

Many manufacturers and operators agreed at MWC that most new phones purchased from 2012 should be compatible with a universal charger, which most likely will be the microUSB interface. The list of manufacturers and operators who agreed to this include AT&T, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Orange, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile and Vodafone, though RIM, Apple and Palm are missing from that list. The good news is that RIM is probably ahead of everybody, especially since it has already started introducing microUSB chargers for newer BlackBerrys. If everybody uses the same phone charger in the future, it will certainly be a lot easier to plan for trips, since you’ll need to worry less about bringing the “correct charger”.
