When people mention Google’s Android, the first thing that comes to mind is normally T-Mobile’s G1, but Google’ didn’t intend to keep the OS (operating system) to mobile devices only. Qualcomm has just demonstrated a Snapdragon-based reference prototype which is powered by Google’s Android. The device isn’t a slouch my any means, as it has a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU with integrated HSPA+, 1080p high-definition support, Wi-Fi, mobile TV, WVGA display and GPS. The processors have been modified by Qualcomm to run at three-times their usual speed, but surprisingly it supposedly doesn’t use much power and the company even suggests that Snapdragon-based devices will be able to stay permanently connected to a data network.
