iPhone 3G Outsells G1 By 6 To 1

When T-Mobile’s G1 was announced, everybody was wondering whether it could finally take down Apple’s insanely successful iPhone 3G. There was a lot of promise, and a lot of potential. Unfortunately for Google (and HTC), latest sales estimates indicate that the iPhone 3G probably outsold the G1 by about 6 to 1 in the US alone, which certainly isn’t a victory for the G1. Of course, some will argue that the iPhone 3G is a second-generation device after the iPhone and many other valid reasons, but the bottom line is that the iPhone is probably more desirable than the G1. Hopefully the next round of Android-powered devices will have cooler form factor and mount a better challenge against the iPhone 3G.
