When users found out that Apple had implemented a kill switch into the iPhone 3G, there was the predictable consumer backlash. Google probably took careful note of this, and while they have implemented a kill switch of their own, they’ve made it known from the start to users that there is such a thing. The paragraph in question is in the terms of service and states:

“Google may discover a product that violates the developer distribution agreement … in such an instance; Google retains the right to remotely remove those applications from your device at its sole discretion”
