Android To Go Solo

With the LiMo Foundation gaining momentum, there are some who are suggesting that it might be a good move for Google to pair up with them, though Eric Chu, a group marketing manager with Google’s Android group doesn’t agree, claiming that “unification for the sake of unification is not the path we decided to go down”.

He also added: “In the end, what matters most is what consumers are looking for. But having too many people on the design phase, especially early on, would have hurt the project. You could have three different user interfaces and a couple of application layers. That doesn’t make sense.” He also mentioned that the OS is 80% done. So hopefully the first Android devices will arrive on time, and make a good challenge against the iPhone.
