Apple to keep iPhone development under lock and key?

Published

on

With the upcoming release of Apple’s SDK for the iPhone imminent, rumors upon rumors of how the development will take place have been floating around. One of the more realistic and even worrisome rumors is that Apple will have their hands around the throats of developers (metaphorically, of course), only allowing applications to be downloaded through iTunes, and only programs which are hand-picked and approved by Apple.

Another rumor floating around says that the upcoming SDK release will only be a beta version, and that the full version will be released in June at WWDC (maybe with a 3G iPhone?) Of course, these restrictions are kind of worthless with jailbreaking running rabid. Just for once, let us have our iPhone apps, and eat them too.
