Nokia Siemens Networks are putting to test its 3G femto cell product early next year. Known as the 3G Femto Home Access, this tiny base station that looks like a WiFi router is capable of enhancing WCDMA coverage in homes of consumers, giving them superior connections at all times. Similar to other femto cell products, the 3G Femto Home Access also hooks up to wireless network operators’ backhaul networks through a broadband Internet connection. It is hoped that this product will roll out by Q3 next year. Will WiFi be obsolete on cellphones soon with better and better 3G connections?
