iPhone successor in the works?

While the real iPhone has not even been released officially yet (you can already read reviews about it since yesterday), word has it that the folk at Cupertino are currently working on a successor, and the iPhone 2.0 is tipped to debut at Macworld 2008 in San Francisco. Some of the rumored specifications include GPS navigation, expanded WiFi capability, and synchronization with email servers. Hmm, still no 3G yet? I think this is bull, as Apple surely got to be kidding us, releasing a replacement within less than a year after the iPhone’s initial debut? Nintendo did pull something like this with the DS Lite, but at least all features remained the same, with just a change in aesthetics.
