eBay offers SMS alert service

Enhance your eBay experience by signing up for the SMS alert service. This will alert buyers in the auction that they are participating in via SMS. You will receive an SMS whenever the auction is about to end or when somebody else outbids you. Should the latter happen, don’t sweat it if you have no Internet access at that moment. Just re-bid by replying the message. It costs $0.25 per auction and is good for up to 10 alert messages. eBay plans to expand notification avenues to phone calls and instant messaging in July. Alternatively, eBay’s free WAP site also provides a search and bid function.
