States in U.S. to restrict cellphone use while driving

It normally takes a tragedy to put things into perspective, and cellphone usage while driving is no different. 26 states and the District of Columbia have already written legislation regarding cellphone usage restrictions while driving, way back in 2003. This year has seen several other legislatures tackling the subject while 2 other states have passed laws on it. States without laws, however, have led the municipalities to pass their very own local restrictions. Survey shows that Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington, D.C. have the most restrictive laws. So far, there is no total ban on cellphone usage while driving in any state. Of course, laws are just a guide as there is always room for flexibility during an emergency.
