Telecom New Zealand Relents
Posted on: Posted on May 7, 2009 3:06 PM

You might have read the little disagreement that Vodafone and Telecom New Zealand had over the XT network that was supposed to be launched on May 13. Well, it looks like Telecom New Zealand has succumbed to the pressure and put off the launch until the end of the month as it resolved “technical issues” that might interfere with Vodafone’s network. If it works out fine, then well and good.

Vodafone And Telecom New Zealand Spat
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 11:52 AM

Telecom New Zealand might be excited at the prospect of launching their 3G network on Wednesday, but it seems like they’ve been hit with a rather interesting setback. Vodafone is claiming that Telecom’s new cells are wreaking havoc with its networks, thanks to radiation interfering with Vodafone’s allotted spectrum. The bad news is that, according to Vodafone, the carrier already knows that Telecom new this was going to happen, and the government had already warned them. Whatever the outcome, it certainly seems highly unlikely that the May 13th launch is still on.

Vodafone Future Android Phones
Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 7:54 PM

We’re all fairly used to the idea of having Android-powered devices from Vodafone, but there is a serious possibility of future Android-powered devices to have a little less Google influence on it, and more Vodafone. It seems that is what the carrier is looking to, as it is looking to ditch some of the more familiar Google services in favor of a more basic package, with Vodafone having its own client software instead.

Vodafone Employee Suspended
Posted on: Posted on March 22, 2009 8:25 AM

Some people like to joke about others, but it’s certainly not very smart to joke about other people’s surname, especially when you’re into customer service. Of course, the customer service operator in question didn’t know that he was being recorded. He probably called the customer back to respond to a query and didn’t notice that it had gone into voice mail. After the customer filed a complaint to Vodafone, the customer service operator was suspended and is pending disciplinary action. In you’re wondering what the customer’s surname is, it’s “Titman”, which is fine if you ask us.

Vodafone Music Gambit
Posted on: Posted on March 12, 2009 10:59 AM

This might sound like something impossible a few years back, but perhaps it’s a sign that times are changing. Vodafone has encouragingly gone against the flow and is now offering DRM-free music in its music catalog. This was able to be achieved by Vodafone inking deals with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music, which will be offering the latest songs to their house via email or something. If you had previously bought some files that have DRM in them, you can get just a tool and scratch it off.

Vodafone HTC Magic
Posted on: Posted on February 16, 2009 9:04 AM

Pictures of the HTC Magic have surfaced online, in case you forgot, it was previously dubbed the G2. Judging by the lack of a physical keyboard, it looks like users will be getting that Cupcake update that we’ve been talking about for so long now. Features of the Magic should include HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It will be interesting to see how this device performs when it’s finally released, and the lack of a physical keyboard will surely be an interesting talking point.
