Verizon Sues Money Warehouse

Verizon Sues Money Warehouse

It looks like Pennsylvania-based Money Warehouse, Inc. is in hot water, after Verizon filed a lawsuit against it for sending unsolicited messages using an autodialer to its customers. Verizon alleges that at least 800,000 wireless spam messages promoting mortgage products were sent to Verizon Wireless customers and employees since February 2009. The Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act prohibits the use of an autodialer to call wireless phones. It’s certainly good to see that Verizon Wireless is taking steps to reduce the amount of spam that its subscribers receive via text messages, which can certainly be a pain.

Verizon BlackBerry Storm To Get Update

Verizon BlackBerry Storm To Get Update

There isn’t any official word yet, but BoyGenius is reporting that a leaked memo shows that the OS 4.7.0.141 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 is already ready, and customers should be receiving alerts during the day to notify them of the upgrade. This certainly seems like one of those rare instances where the carrier actually manages to release an updated firmware before its leaked online.

Verizon Wireless Offering User Reviews

Verizon Wireless Offering User Reviews

Verizon Wireless has finally implemented its user handset review feature, which will allow users to evaluate handsets based on ease of use, display, design, features and even battery life. The bad news is that you must be an existing Verizon customer and logged into your Verizon account before you can post a review. Not only that, Verizon employees actually vet each review before it’s listed, which probably means we won’t be seeing reviews that are too extreme in either direction.

Verizon LTE Innovation

Verizon LTE Innovation

Verizon has just released some specifications of its next-generation LTE network for device manufacturers as part of its Open Development initiative. Details picked up from the official release is that the LTE network will begin as a data-only service, and currently devices aren’t required to support CDMA, which is certainly an interesting notion. Verizon has already confirmed that phones will be available at the time of launch, so it looks like it’s going to be an interesting ride with LTE.

Unofficial Verizon Exilim C721 Pictured Again

The Exilim C721 has been a rumored phone for quite a while, and most people were expecting it to go official at CTIA, but it looks like that never happened. That being said, all is not lost, as a new picture of the Casio C721 Exilim has appeared at BuyWirelessNow, and it should be heading to Verizon Wireless. It will be interesting to finally get an Exilim branded phone, and despite it being “just” 5-megapixels, we’re looking forward to checking out its photo-taking capabilities.

HTC Touch Diamond On Verizon

HTC Touch Diamond On Verizon

It has certainly taken its own sweet time, but it looks like the HTC Touch Diamond will be launching for all B2B, web and telesales customers on April 10th, though the full retail channel release hasn’t been set. While this kind of news is fine and dandy, it does make us wonder why carriers sometime take so long to release these kinds of phones, especially since the Touch Diamond2 should (hopefully) be released not too long after this. The Touch Diamond should be going for about $199.99 on a 2-year contract after mail-in rebates and $469.99 if you buy the phone outright.

Nokia Quashes 4G Rumor

Nokia Quashes 4G Rumor

If you’re been keeping up with the news, you’ll certainly have heard of the recent rumor that Nokia and Verizon Wireless have been working together to come up with a touchscreen LTE Device, which would be a 4G device. That’s certainly exciting and all, but the bad news is that Nokia has taken the time to come out and quash that rumor, stating: “While we have not entered into any exclusive agreement for 4G touch screen device development as is being reported, we will continue to follow and pursue developments as a normal course of business.” It’s certainly a disappointing blow to those who are looking to get a cool touchscreen LTE device in the near future, but hopefully we’ll get one sooner rather than later.

Verizon Samsung Smooth Looks Angular

Verizon Samsung Smooth Looks Angular

Sure, it’s called the Samsung Smooth, but this u350 phone from Samsung certainly looks more angular than curvy. Being a fairly entry-level phone, you can expect to pick this phone up for almost free (after a $50 rebate), most likely with a contract. The device sports a VGA camera, but misses out on popular features such as 3G, memory expansion, and 3G data. Would you actually consider this if you were looking for a secondary phone, or would you skip it totally?

Verizon Ready To Sell Personal Data?

Verizon Ready To Sell Personal Data?

You’ve really got to love how large corporations respect your privacy and your personal data. We say this because news is out that Verizon is sending letters out to its subscribers, giving them the option to respond within 45 days upon receipt of said notification to opt out of their information sharing plan. Sure, it sounds innocent enough, but you can’t deny that they will probably just go ahead and “share” your personal information if you happen to miss the letter or forget to respond, convenient isn’t it? A class action lawsuit in the process, perhaps?

Nokia And Verizon Secret 4G Phone?

Nokia And Verizon Secret 4G Phone?

In a move that is rather uncommon from Nokia, it seems that Nokia and Verizon will team up in an exclusive partnership to come up with a new touchscreen device that will run on the upcoming 4G LTE network. This might be a result of the overwhelming success that AT&T enjoyed by getting Apple’s iPhone. The good news is that Nokia doesn’t seem daunted by the prospect of a challenge and is looking at ways to stay ahead of the pack, which is certainly good news for end users.

Would The iPhone Keep You At Verizon?

Posted on: Posted on March 4, 2009 4:46 PM

Would The iPhone Keep You At Verizon?

Is Verizon Wireless feeling blue that it doesn’t have an iPhone to offer to its subscribers? Well, based on some of the questions that are posed to its customers who are leaving the network; it’s certainly very conscious about how much Apple’s iPhone (or lack of it) has impacted its customer base. You can see from the screenshot that users are asked questions like “What could Verizon Wireless have offered to keep you as a customer?” Amongst the answers that are offered to users are the iPhone. We’ve heard of quite a few Verizon subscribers ditching the network and going to AT&T for the iPhone. What’s your take on this? Were you faced with the dilemma of switching networks to get the iPhone? Let us know what you think via the comments section.

Verizon Samsung Omnia At $99

Amid the flurry of new phones being announced at MWC 2009, we still have to remember that there are still current models of phones that are being sold and one phone that shouldn’t be forgotten is Samsung’s Omnia. The good news is that Verizon is now offering the Samsung Omnia at $99.99 on its website, the price of which includes a $70 online-only discount and the customary 2-year contract. If you’re only willing to tie yourself to a 1-year contract, the phone will set you back $169, while the price for the full retail price of the phone is still at an insanely high $559.

Verizon BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 Coming

Verizon BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 Coming

Verizon subscribers who are looking to get the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 should be fairly happy to hear that the phone will be heading to Verizon sometime soon. Of course, it doesn’t have the latest specs, as the phone has been around for a while now, albeit on other carriers, but if you’re looking for a BlackBerry with a flip design, then this is your only choice. Pricing and availability haven’t been revealed yet, but users should be able to pick up the phone in a silver color scheme. Since test units of this device have been around for a while now, it can’t be too long before it’s released.

Motorola Inferno For Verizon Wireless

Motorola Inferno For Verizon Wireless

Fancy a new Motorola phone? We know that Motorola is lining up quite a few new phones this year, so what do you think of a Motorola Inferno, at least that’s what Verizon is supposedly calling it, while others call it the Touch. Word on the street is that Verizon will begin hardware trials this week and one of the more noticeable changes would be the removal of the plastic flip. There aren’t too many details available just yet, so stay tuned, and we’ll keep you posted.
