Verizon Wireless has announced the Motorola A455 Rival handset designed for text and instant messaging lovers. It sports a sleek side-sliding backlit QWERTY keyboard with appropriate shortcuts for easy access to text message composition and email. There is also touchscreen dialing to save you from sliding out the keypad in case you only wish to place a phone call. Other features in the purple and silver body include a 2MP camera, EV-DO, VZ Navigator and microSD memory expansion of up to 8GB, all for $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract.

Verizon Sues Money Warehouse

Verizon Sues Money Warehouse

It looks like Pennsylvania-based Money Warehouse, Inc. is in hot water, after Verizon filed a lawsuit against it for sending unsolicited messages using an autodialer to its customers. Verizon alleges that at least 800,000 wireless spam messages promoting mortgage products were sent to Verizon Wireless customers and employees since February 2009. The Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act prohibits the use of an autodialer to call wireless phones. It’s certainly good to see that Verizon Wireless is taking steps to reduce the amount of spam that its subscribers receive via text messages, which can certainly be a pain.

Verizon Motorola Calgary Sports Android

Verizon Motorola Calgary Sports Android

Did you ever stop to wonder which manufacturer would be the first to have an Android-powered device on Verizon Wireless? It might be a little surprising, but Motorola might just be the first, with its Android-powered Motorola Calgary phone. The device supposedly will sport a QWERTY keyboard and will have a focus on social networking. Motorola was rumored to be bringing its first Android-powered device to the market by the end of Q2 2009, but there isn’t any confirmation whether the Calgary will fall within that timescale.

Microsoft Pink For Verizon

Microsoft Pink For Verizon

Verizon looks like it’s getting a fair bit of attention lately, which the company certainly won’t mind. Aside from the rumor of new Apple devices that should be arriving on the carrier, there is still the rumor about a Microsoft phone project, codenamed “Pink”. Of course, Pink is most likely a codename for the software layer, as Microsoft has often taken the time to dispute any claims that it is planning to release a Microsoft branded phone. Will this Pink feature be available on Verizon? Most likely, the question is more of a “when”, rather than “if”.

Verizon BlackBerry Tour This July

There still isn’t any official confirmation just yet, but it looks like the BlackBerry Tour will be heading stateside this July, thanks to Verizon Wireless. Right now people are still speculating on the price of the device. Are you looking forward to the device? Maybe a $199 price point with a 2-year contract might seem fair.

Verizon BlackBerry Storm To Get Update

Verizon BlackBerry Storm To Get Update

There isn’t any official word yet, but BoyGenius is reporting that a leaked memo shows that the OS 4.7.0.141 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 is already ready, and customers should be receiving alerts during the day to notify them of the upgrade. This certainly seems like one of those rare instances where the carrier actually manages to release an updated firmware before its leaked online.

HTC XV6175 Going To Verizon

HTC XV6175 Going To Verizon

The device was first leaked as the HTC Willow. The HTC XV6175 is rumored to be heading towards Verizon Wireless, and hopefully it’s sooner rather than later. Unfortunately there isn’t any official details or specificationson the device just yet, but we can probably speculate that it will sport Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, and should be targeting the entry-level smartphone market.

Verizon iPhone In 2010?

Verizon iPhone In 2010?

Looking to use Apple’s iPhone on Verizon Wireless, especially since you don’t want to switch to AT&T just for an iPhone? Well, if the latest reports are true, we might actually be able to see an iPhone from Verizon in 2010. Sure, we know this rumor has been going around for a while now, but the rumor has apparently resurfaced thanks to USA Today. As it goes, Verizon Wireless is waiting to offer the iPhone on its CDMA network after the iPhone exclusivity deal with AT&T runs out. So will it be time to switch to Verizon in the future?

Verizon Samsung Trance Unveiled

Verizon Samsung Trance Unveiled

Verizon Wireless is now offering the Samsung Trance for $49.99 if you agree to a 2-year contract. This slider phone looks rather stylish, and it’s a music oriented device, though unfortunately it cuts back on other features. The device lacks 3G and only has a 1.3 megapixel camera and microSD card slot. The good news is that it has a Bang & Olufsen ICEpower amp technology, which you’ll certainly want to test out. You’ll be given the choice of black, or red with black accents. Take your pick.

Verizon Wireless My Verizon Application

Posted on: Posted on April 23, 2009 5:49 PM

Verizon Wireless My Verizon Application

Want to track your cell phone usage? Well, Verizon subscribers who use a BlackBerry can now do that, thanks to the My Verizon application that the carrier has put up for download. Supported devices include the Curve 8330, Pearl 8130 and 8830 World Edition. Storm owners are unfortunately out of luck, as the application is apparently compatible with trackball BlackBerry devices only. If you want to be able to track your cell phone minutes, data usage, account balance, make payments etc, you can point your BlackBerry browser homepage to http://mobile.vzwapp.com.

Verizon BlackBerry 8830 OS 4.5.0.138

Verizon BlackBerry 8830 OS 4.5.0.138

Verizon subscribers who own a BlackBerry 8830 will certainly be happy to receive an official OS update to OS 4.5.0.138. The update is currently available on Verizon’s BlackBerry page. It sure took Verizon more than a little while to get the update release. Now we can go back to hoping for a new OS for the BlackBerry Storm to be approved.

Verizon Wireless Offering User Reviews

Verizon Wireless Offering User Reviews

Verizon Wireless has finally implemented its user handset review feature, which will allow users to evaluate handsets based on ease of use, display, design, features and even battery life. The bad news is that you must be an existing Verizon customer and logged into your Verizon account before you can post a review. Not only that, Verizon employees actually vet each review before it’s listed, which probably means we won’t be seeing reviews that are too extreme in either direction.

Verizon LTE Innovation

Verizon LTE Innovation

Verizon has just released some specifications of its next-generation LTE network for device manufacturers as part of its Open Development initiative. Details picked up from the official release is that the LTE network will begin as a data-only service, and currently devices aren’t required to support CDMA, which is certainly an interesting notion. Verizon has already confirmed that phones will be available at the time of launch, so it looks like it’s going to be an interesting ride with LTE.

Verizon BlackBerry Storm Firmware Delay

Posted on: Posted on April 14, 2009 2:20 PM

Verizon BlackBerry Storm Firmware Delay

Verizon certainly isn’t well known for getting firmware updates to its subscribers, and subscribers who have picked up the BlackBerry Storm 9530 from the carrier are still (im)patiently waiting for a firmware update (to OS 4.7.0.113 at least) so that most of the irritating bugs related to the BlackBerry Storm can be fixed. Other carriers around the world and even in Canada have already implemented the .113 update at the very least, so Verizon really doesn’t have too much of an excuse not to release it. Of course, you could always bite the bullet and grab a post-113 firmware on your own, just do so with caution and always remember to backup your data before doing so.

Unofficial Verizon Exilim C721 Pictured Again

Unofficial Verizon Exilim C721 Pictured Again

The Exilim C721 has been a rumored phone for quite a while, and most people were expecting it to go official at CTIA, but it looks like that never happened. That being said, all is not lost, as a new picture of the Casio C721 Exilim has appeared at BuyWirelessNow, and it should be heading to Verizon Wireless. It will be interesting to finally get an Exilim branded phone, and despite it being “just” 5-megapixels, we’re looking forward to checking out its photo-taking capabilities.

Verizon Touch Diamond Confirmed

Verizon Touch Diamond Confirmed

It looks like previous rumors of the HTC Touch Diamond hitting Verzion have become reality as Verizon has confirmed via its website that the HTC Touch Diamond will be made available through business sales and online starting tomorrow. The pricing is a little different from the speculated price a while ago, meaning it will set you back $299.99 after a $70 mail-in rebate, which is quite a bit higher than the rumored $199.99 price tag. The Verizon Touch Diamond will feature Verizon’s signature Navigator system, along with Visual Voicemail, 3.2-megapixel camera, touchscreen display and TouchFLO.

HTC Touch Diamond On Verizon

Posted on: Posted on April 6, 2009 2:45 PM

HTC Touch Diamond On Verizon

It has certainly taken its own sweet time, but it looks like the HTC Touch Diamond will be launching for all B2B, web and telesales customers on April 10th, though the full retail channel release hasn’t been set. While this kind of news is fine and dandy, it does make us wonder why carriers sometime take so long to release these kinds of phones, especially since the Touch Diamond2 should (hopefully) be released not too long after this. The Touch Diamond should be going for about $199.99 on a 2-year contract after mail-in rebates and $469.99 if you buy the phone outright.

Verizon LG enV3 Spotted

Verizon LG enV3 Spotted

Verizon’s version of the LG enV3 has been spotted, and as usual, it’s blurry. At a glance, there doesn’t seem to be too much different from the enV3, though upon closer inspection, you can see some minor differences such as the numeric keypad, QWERTY layout that has been tweaked a bit and the upgraded camera which is now a 3-megapixel module. This phone might not be for everyone, but it certainly has its fans.

OS 4.5 For Verizon BlackBerry 8830

OS 4.5 For Verizon BlackBerry 8830

Most might think that Verizon’s BlackBerry 8830 is on its way out, but it looks like Verizon is set to inject one last breath into it as an official OS update from 4.2 to 4.5 has been made available. Of course, it’s nothing special if you’re on Sprint, considering that Sprint has already offered the 4.5 upgrade for its 8830 a while ago. Still, it’s nice to keep up with the Joneses, right?
