Palm Pre Banner On Best Buy
Posted on: Posted on May 7, 2009 2:58 PM

It looks like Best Buy will most certainly be getting the Palm Pre, as a bright yellow banner advertising the Palm Pre has appeared on Best Buy’s website. The banner appears when you search for keys like “pre” or “palm pre”, though unfortunately it doesn’t give any additional information. Bummer.

Palm Pre Launch On June 5th?
Posted on: Posted on May 7, 2009 2:54 PM

When exactly will the Palm Pre be launched? Well, there are already a few dates floating around, and now a new picture showing a Palm Pre “launch lunch” on June 5th has surfaced. Of course, some people might doubt the legitimacy of the leaked information, as there is a typo in “Employee Benfits”, though there have been cases where typos appear on legitimate documents. What do you think? True or false? Drop us a comment and let us know what you think.
Palm Pre Official For Bell Canada
Posted on: Posted on May 7, 2009 10:40 AM

Folks over in Canada will certainly welcome the official news that the Palm Pre will be available on Bell Mobility. This is obviously a CDMA device, and it’s too bad that neither Bell nor Palm have announced the pricing on the Palm Pre over in Canada. In terms of features, the device is similar to the Palm Pre that is being offered by Sprint, complete with EV-DO, 320 x 480 display, GPS, Wi-Fi and QWERTY keyboard, all powered by Palm’s webOS.

Bell To Offer Palm Pre
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 9:56 AM

We’ve been hearing so much about the Palm Pre being on Sprint over the past few weeks that it’s good to hear that Bell Mobility will also be offering the device over in Canada in the second half of 2009. The device will be a Bell Mobility exclusive over in Canada, and it will certainly be interesting to see how the device fares up north.
Sprint Employees Fired Over Palm Pre
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 9:36 AM

We love to get news and leaks about upcoming products, but we’re always saddened when news comes out that employees have been fired for leaking information. Of course, leaking information isn’t the proper thing to do, especially when you’ve signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), but being fired does put the severity of the situation into perspective. It seems that Sprint has taken these drastic measures to three of its employees after they were talking about the highly anticipated Palm Pre outside of their workplace. We certainly would welcome more news of the Palm Pre, but hopefully it’s in a more cheerful tone in the future.
Best Buy To Trial Launch Palm Pre
Posted on: Posted on May 4, 2009 10:52 AM

This isn’t an official report by any means, but word is going around the Internet that Best Buy will be getting a limited inventory of Palm Pre handsets for a trial launch, scheduled for June 7th. If the rumor is true, about 4,500 units will be distributed throughout Best Buy Mobile locations across the country, ensuring the each and every Best Buy Mobile will be getting at least one Palm Pre. Possible pricing for the Palm Pre is $199.99 on a 2-year contract, and a whopping $999.99 to buy the phone outright.

Palm Looking For Pre Reviewers
Posted on: Posted on April 30, 2009 9:47 AM

Want a free Palm device? Well, you could always be a non-professional reviewer for Palm, as the company is looking for folks to share their opinions about Palm phones. If you’re good enough to win the contest, you’ll receive a “Real Reviewer” title, along with a “current-model” Palm device, which is almost certainly a Palm Pre. If you’re a U.S. resident and want to enter the contest, you’ll can check it out online, and of course, remember that you need to be over 18.
Mini Palm Pre To Come?
Posted on: Posted on April 30, 2009 8:56 AM

We’ve already been through so many iPhone nano rumors that most of you probably think that there is already such a phone on sale. Well, in order to freshen things up, the rumor mill has come up with a mini Palm Pre rumor. There isn’t any technical information to backup this rumor just yet, but it’s supposedly aimed at the lower end of the market, if it’s true anyways. We’d certainly welcome a second webOS device.
Palm Pre Costs $138 To Make?
Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 10:14 AM

iSuppli has always been the authority when it comes to calculating the cost of manufacturing mobile phones, and you have to admit that it has been pretty accurate. That being said, some do doubt how accurate the $138 price tag that it has slapped on the manufacturing of the Palm Pre, especially since they most likely didn’t have an actual unit to disassemble. Of course, going by iSuppli’s track record, the figures can’t be far wrong, and it looks like the Pre might actually be cheaper than the iPhone to manufacture, as the iPhone costs $174 per unit.

Palm Pre On June 7th?
Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 9:33 AM

Are you looking forward to the Palm Pre, much like every other Palm fan on the planet? Well, according to a freshly leaked document from Sprint, the device is slated to be released on June 7th, which isn’t all that far away. The official date stated by Palm is still the “first half of 2009”, which June will certainly fall under.
Palm Pre Multitasking
Posted on: Posted on April 27, 2009 11:29 AM
Was Apple right in not allowing the iPhone to run multiple applications? Well, a (supposedly authentic) leaked document reveals that the Palm Pre might actually have some issues with the device slowing down if too many applications are running. Of course, with the Cards method of switching between applications, it’s fairly simple to close programs that you don’t want. Regardless of its multitasking ability, the Palm pre is certainly one device that should be released as soon as possible.
Palm Pre As Low As $150?
Posted on: Posted on April 27, 2009 8:59 AM

Many folks have speculated over the possible pricing for the Palm Pre, and the fact that Sprint hasn’t released any official information related to that yet just keeps people guessing and speculating. Now we have Credit Suisse speculating that Sprint will be offering the Palm Pre for $150 (on contract, of course), and which put it in direct contention with Apple and its $199 iPhone 3G. Would such a move be successful in putting Palm back on the map? We certainly hope so, and look forward to seeing the device on retail shelves.
More Palm Pre Live Pictures
Posted on: Posted on April 23, 2009 6:48 PM

Can’t wait for the Palm Pre to be released? Well, you’ll have to be satisfied with more live pictures of the device which have surfaced online. There shouldn’t be any issue of the authenticity of these pictures, are other live shots of the device have already started circulating around the Internet.
AT&T Compares The Pre And iPhone
Posted on: Posted on April 23, 2009 9:47 AM

Is AT&T beginning to feel the heat from the (unreleased) Palm Pre? Well, the fact that the company has issued an internal document pointing out the “advantages” of the iPhone over the Palm Pre certainly shows that it’s paying attention to the device. The arguments seem a little baseless to be honest, but if said in a proper way, it could probably make the iPhone sound like the more attractive phone. It will be interesting to see if the Palm Pre will be able to mount a proper challenge on Apple’s iPhone, Sprint and Palm will certainly be hoping that it can.

Angelina Jolie Thinks Palm Pre Bests The iPhone?
Posted on: Posted on April 21, 2009 6:09 PM

We all know that the Palm Pre is a valid iPhone competitor, and though there isn’t any official on word it yet, reports out that Angeline Jolie already has a unit, and actually prefers it more than the iPhone. One of the production assistants working with Jolie apparently said:
“I asked her how she likes the phone. She went on about it for about two minutes. She basically said she likes the software better than the iPhone, she likes the thumboard for texting (although the keys aren’t big enough), and thinks the screen is beautiful but can be too easily scratched.”
Of course, we’re not sure whether she actually has such a phone, but we have to acknowledge that being a celebrity does have its perks off and on. All you have to do is look to John Mayer and his BlackBerry.

Classic Palm OS Emulator For Palm Pre
Posted on: Posted on April 20, 2009 9:51 AM
We’ve mentioned the fact that the webOS on the Palm Pre will be able to run the Classic Palm OS emulator, which can even handle games and videos. Until now, most people have been rather skeptical of how well it would perform, but when you test games like GTS World Racer on it, and it seems real pretty, you might actually want to pick up the Palm Pre when it’s officially released.
Sprint Spends Big Bucks On Advertising
Posted on: Posted on April 20, 2009 9:10 AM

Most of us who have been following the news really can’t wait to see the Palm Pre on the streets, but there are still plenty of people out there who don’t know that the Palm Pre is coming, and it looks like Sprint is determined to let them know that it’s coming. Take a peek at the Wall Street Journal and you’ll see a full page ad from Sprint, which should cost around $264,000, which is certainly a big sum, especially if you take into account the current economic crisis. Have you been eagerly awaiting the Palm Pre, or oblivious of it till just now?
Palm Pre Compared With iPhone
Posted on: Posted on April 17, 2009 9:09 AM

It looks like as the Palm Pre is edging closer to a release, more and more pictures and live shots of the device are showing up. Now we have a Chinese accessory wholesaler supposedly picking up a Palm Pre, and taking the trouble to picture it with another Palm device, and the iPhone. Of course, there is no confirmation that the Pre pictured here is an actual device, or just a dummy/fake, but it’s supposedly the real deal. Feedback on the phone is that the plastic screen is more susceptible to scratches than the glass screen on the iPhone. It’s also been said that the Palm Pre is in mass production, which is certainly should be, especially if we’re to be able to get the Palm Pre on time.

Is The Palm Pre Overhyped?
Posted on: Posted on April 16, 2009 3:21 PM

It’s really an open secret that Palm is more or less banking its future on that of webOS and the Palm Pre, and it judging by the initial response to the Pre, it looks like the company might just be able to pull it off. A recent survey by ChangeWave Research might put a damper on Palm’s hopes of survival though, as it reports that prospective smartphone buyers are looking to devices from RIM or Apple first, with only 4% of the adults surveyed showing interest in purchasing a Palm Pre, while the BlackBerry and iPhone polled 37% and 30% respectively. To make matters worse, since the Pre will be a Sprint exclusive, the response that only 1% of the respondents would be willing to switch carriers doesn’t sound very encouraging. Hopefully ChangeWave Research didn’t pick the proper group of people to survey or something, but in the end, only time will tell whether the Palm Pre lives up to its hype.
