Samsung Omnia To Be WinMob Only
Posted on: Posted on April 8, 2009 11:27 AM

Some Windows Mobile fans are probably still smarting over previous news that Samsung’s Omnia could be running Symbian’s S60 operating system, and not Windows Mobile. The good news is that there looks like there is a resolution to all of this, as Samsung has decided to reserve the Omnia name for Windows Mobile phones only, and therefore has stripped the Omnia branding from the i8910. At least it will save us the trouble of trying to remember what mobile operating system is running on the Omnia in the future.

New Samsung Omnia ROM Appears Briefly
Posted on: Posted on March 9, 2009 10:28 AM
It’s good to see that Samsung hasn’t given up on its Omnia yet, as a new version of the firmware for said phone has surfaced. The bad news is that the DZIA5 firmware which appeared briefly on Samsung’s servers has disappeared, fortunately some folks were quick enough to download it and now a repackaged version of it is available online. Do take note that Samsung might have pulled the firmware offline because they found some earth-shattering problems with it, so always exercise caution when fiddling with non-official firmwares.
Omniano For Your HTC Device
Posted on: Posted on February 2, 2009 7:50 AM
Piano buffs out there with a Windows Mobile device will certainly welcome the entry of a version of Omniano which will work on HTC devices. The Omniano (if the name didn’t give it away already) was initially developed for Samsung’s OMNIA only, but thanks for some wizardry over at xda-developers, it’s now an option for those who use a HTC device.
