Motorola Karma QA1 On Sale Today
Posted on: Posted on June 30, 2009 11:42 PM

The Motorola Karma QA1, announced about a week ago, will be hitting the shelves today. The entry-level full QWERTY slider with easy access to Twitter, MySpace and Facebook via large icons on the homescreen, is aimed at teenagers and young adults. The 3.5×2.5-inch phone has a glass faceplate instead of plastic, giving it a solid feel but it still remains light at 5 ounces. The keyboard is large enough for comfortable thumb typing, with the phone's numeric keypad towards the left side. To complement its social networking friendly appeal, it also comes with A-GPS - probably to help locate buddies in the real world - apart from a whole range of multimedia features. The Karma will be available from AT&T for $80 after a $50 mail-in rebate and two-year contract.

iDEN phones always seem to have a design problem in the sense that there aren’t many pretty devices for iDEN networks. Motorola Posts $291 Million Loss In Q1
Posted on: Posted on April 30, 2009 5:37 PM

It certainly seems like a long time since any sort of good news has come from Motorola, and it looks like we’re going to have to wait a while longer before we have any hope of hearing something happy from them. The company has just revealed that it missed its projected sales figure of $5.62 billion, posting $5.4 billion, $1.8 billion of which were in its handset division. Sales of cell phones were down 45%, and Motorola is looking at a $291 million loss ($0.13 per share), which certainly can’t be good news.

Android-powered Motorola Ironman
Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 3:07 PM

A picture of what is supposedly an upcoming Android-powered Motorola device has surfaced, and the smartphone that is pictured here will either be officially called, or bears the codename “Ironman”. We’re actually more inclined that think that it’s a codename, as it’s rather hard to imagine Motorola marketing an Ironman, but you never know, right? The device will supposedly be released by the end of Q3 and will sport features such as Wi-Fi, 3G, high-res camera etc. Definitely something to keep an eye out for, right?
Motorola A4500 Visits The FCC
Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 10:39 AM

An FCC filing has revealed some details on a Motorola A4500 world phone. The device will supposedly support CDMA for Verizon Wireless’ network, and also quad-band GSM for Vodafone customers. At a glance, the device looks very much like the Motorola Q9, but the device actually sports features like a 2-megapixel camera, EV-DO, stereo Bluetooth, Windows Mobile and a biometric fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone itself.
Verizon Motorola Calgary Sports Android
Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 10:06 AM

Did you ever stop to wonder which manufacturer would be the first to have an Android-powered device on Verizon Wireless? It might be a little surprising, but Motorola might just be the first, with its Android-powered Motorola Calgary phone. The device supposedly will sport a QWERTY keyboard and will have a focus on social networking. Motorola was rumored to be bringing its first Android-powered device to the market by the end of Q2 2009, but there isn’t any confirmation whether the Calgary will fall within that timescale.

Motorola W7 Going To China
Posted on: Posted on April 28, 2009 10:01 AM

Different people have different taste, that’s for sure, but it will certainly be interesting to see if anybody will actually think that the (unannounced) Motorola W7 is attractive. The device has just received China’s telecom certification, which is similar to getting the FCC’s approval. The device will reportedly sport a 2.2-inch QVGA display, secondary video camera for video calls, microSD card expansion, and FM radio and will support China’s 3G network. The device should be available in May 2009.

Motorola V10 Looks Similar To V9
Posted on: Posted on April 24, 2009 6:38 PM

Have you ever heard of a Motorola V10 phone? Well, the device has just been announced by Motorola over in South Korea. This mid-range 2G clamshell does seem to bear a passing resemblance to Motorola’s RAZR V9, and seems to keep its square-ish and slim design. The Motorola V10 should be available for purchase in South Korea in a few weeks, though no pricing was mentioned at this time.

Alltel Gets Motorola QA4 Evoke
Posted on: Posted on April 16, 2009 3:46 PM

It’s easy to write off Motorola nowadays, but if you take a closer look at the Motorola QA Evoke, it’s actually not that bad. The device has a numeric slider keypad, combined with a full touchscreen display, not to mention it looks vaguely like a Motorola PEBL. Features of the phone include EV-DO, 2-megapixel camera, AGPS, A2DP, and of course, microSD card expansion. The device is currently being offered by Alltel for $99.99 (on contract).

Motorola r765 and r765IS
Posted on: Posted on April 14, 2009 11:00 AM

Motorola looks like its lining up 2 more enterprise-grade iDEN cell phones, targeted at the utility, petrochemical and industrial markets. The 2 cell phones that we’re talking about are the r765 and r765IS. This devices offer help from mobile workers that are stationed around in noisy, hazardous environments, and of course, having the 2 way radio feature in my group is a big bonus.

Motorola i465 Hits The FCC
Posted on: Posted on April 13, 2009 4:09 PM

Everybody’s preference is different, but we’re fairly sure that most people would be a little shocked when they take a peek at Motorola’s i465, its first full-QWERTY iDEN phone. We’re not going to elaborate on its looks, as you can decide for yourself based on the picture, but if for some reason you’re itching to get this, it shouldn’t take too long, as the device has just passed the FCC’s testing, bringing it some step closer to you. Beauty or the beast? Drop us a comment and let us know what you think.
Fido Offers The Motorola Renew
Posted on: Posted on April 3, 2009 9:34 AM

Fido might be on an eco kick, as it is now set to release the eco friendly Motorola Renew. The environment conscious points of the phone are that it’s carbon free, and is also made from recycled water bottles. The phone will come free if you agree to a 2-year contract, or $65 if you go for the prepaid option.

Motorola Evoke QA4 Announced
Posted on: Posted on March 30, 2009 11:40 AM

Motorola has certainly been floundering recently, and it’s certainly been looking to Google’s Android platform to save its bacon. Until Motorola actually comes out with an Android-powered device though, it looks like the Evoke QA4 will have to fill the gap. At a glance, it looks a lot like a cross between Apple’s iPhone and the Palm Pre. The device features a 2.8-inch touchscreen, but will the phone be able to stand up against the hi-tech phones of today? Somehow we don’t think so.

Motorola Closes Movie Download Site
Posted on: Posted on March 26, 2009 8:05 AM

You might not have known one existed, but Motorola has confirmed that it has ceased operations and closed down a movie download site that it launched with Paramount Studies six months back. Users who used the site were able to download mobile-friendly versions of movies that could be played on handsets such as the Motorola Z8 and Z10. The two people responsible for launching the store, senior director Andrew Till and regional manager Steven Trew had already left Motorola in January. Some of the reasons that have been cited to cause the site’s downfall were poor marketing and lack of visibility by Motorola’s customers.

Motorola A1210 Details Leaked
Posted on: Posted on March 25, 2009 10:17 AM

Motorola’s A1200 Ming was certainly a hit back in 2006, and knowing Motorola, if it gets a good idea (read: RAZR), it tends to reuse the idea over and over again (read: RAZR again). Mock ups of the A1210 have surfaced, and from the pictures, it’s fairly obvious that it plans to keep most of the design aspects that made the A1200 popular, including the Linux OS and transparent flip. Word has it that the device will have a 2.8-inch 240 x 400 TFT touchscreen, 3.1 megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, 64MB of internal memory, microSD card expansion and TI OMAP850 processor. The phone doesn’t seem to support the 850 MHz GSM band, so there might be a distinct possibility that we won’t be seeing the phone stateside anytime soon. Bummer.

Motorola i856 Pictured
Posted on: Posted on March 24, 2009 1:43 PM

Motorola seems to have a penchant for coming up with phones that don’t affect the market very much, but we’re not going to complain too much over an additional phone to choose form, especially if it’s an iDEN phone. Pictured here is the i856 from Motorola, which features a 2.2-inch display, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD card expansion. Sure, it’s nothing special in terms of features when you compare it to most phones nowadays, but considering that there aren’t too many iDEN phones to begin with, this device probably does have a place in the Market. If you’re on a carrier like Boost, would you consider this device?
