LG Neon Now Available on AT&T for $30

Officially announced in March, the LG Neon QWERTY side slider with touchscreen phone is now available from AT&T for a mere $29.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and 2-year contract. The entry level messaging phone boasts GPRS/GSM/EDGE connection, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 2.4-inch display, 2-megapixel camera, 14MB memory expandable up to 4GB via microSD, MusicID and MEdiaNet services all packed into a 4 × 2 × 0.66-inch body weighing 3.81 ounces. Pretty appealing to text-messagers for its price if lime green is their color.

LG Cookie Gets Cloned

If you’re looking for the LG Renoir but don’t want to pay the full price for the device, you could always settle for a cheaper but similar looking mobile phone. The device is dubbed the LC KP5000, which is certainly a direct copy/paste job from the folks who were designing the boxes. The LC KP5000 will sport a 3-inch {QVGA display, dual-SIM support, 1.3 megapixel camera. If you travel a lot, you’ll be more or less covered in terms of coverage. If you decide to go for this device, it will set you back $110.
Rogers To Offer LG GT500

An XML file that some folks picked up from the LG site seems to indicate that the LG GT500 (or ‘Puccini’) will be hitting Rogers over in Canada. Aside from Rogers, T-Mobile subscribers might also be also be lucky enough to pick up the device from said carrier. Specifications of the LG GT500 include:

LG GD900 Crystal Goes To UK

If you previously caught sight of the LG GF900 Crystal back at MWC 2009, you’ll probably have been captivated by its transparent keyboard, which certainly makes the phone have a luxurious and classy look. Folks over in the UK should be able to pick up the device in mid-May, as Carphone Warehouse has confirmed that they will be releasing the device on said date. The GD900 will sport LG’s S-Class Touch UI, 8-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, TV-out and Dolby Mobile audio technology. On top of that, the display and transparent sliding keypad should support multi-touch input and handwriting recognition.
LG Enlists Heidi Klum

LG has always been one of the manufacturers who emphasize fashion on their mobile phones, and now their latest Ambassador of Style is going to strengthen those beliefs. The company has enlisted Heidi Klum for said post, and will be offering 5 back plates designed by her for the LG Rumor2. LG has also created a print advertising campaign that depicts Klum painted in butterflies, similar to one of her back plate designs, which is certainly going to capture the attention of the men, at the very least.

LG Shine And Vu To Be Discontinued?

According to reports, the LG Shine, which is currently still available for $9.99 on contract, might be pulled off shelves from May, while the LG Vu might also see the same fate at in August. The good news is that it seems that LG Shine 2 and LG Vu 2 might be launched sometime in Q3 of 2009. There aren’t many details regarding the Shire 2 just yet, but the Vu 2 is rumored to have a rather pretty 3D touchscreen, which probably means that it’ll run the S-Class Touch UI that is being used by the LG Arena.
LG enV3 Gets 3Mp Camera

Very little technical details (if any) of the LG enV3 VX9200 have been revealed, but now that pictures that show the back of the phone have made its way to the Internet, we can see that the device will sport a 3-megapixel camera along with “intelligent shot”. There isn’t any mention as to whether this “intelligent shot” means some form of image stabilization or face recognition, so we’ll have to wait to find out what it’s all about. At least the 3.2-megapixel camera is an upgrade from the original 2-megapixel on the enV2.
LG Design The Future Competition

LG Mobile Phones has come up with an interesting competition in partnership with crowdSPRING and Autodesk. U.S. residents above 18 will have the chance to design the next revolutionary LG phone and challenge for more than $80,000 in rewards. It’s similar to the previous year’s competition, so if you’re familiar with it, it will most likely pique your interest. Designers who participate will even receive a free 15-day trial of SketchBook Pro digital sketchpad software. So if you’re a designer, what are you waiting for? The contest ends June 7th 2009, and maybe we’ll be reporting on a mobile phone designed by you. Who knows, right?

LG Electronics Reports Sales Increase

LG Electronics seems to be doing rather well amidst the global economic turmoil, as it has announced its earnings for the first quarter of 2009. The company’s handset department reported a 23% increase in sales, going from KRW 3.2 trillion ($2.3b) to KRW 3.9 trillion ($2.8b). Sales increased despite a 7% year-over-year decline in handset shipments. LG will certainly be happy over the success of its Cookie, LG-KS360 and Viewty smartphones, which definitely had a part to plan in ensuring it’s good financial reports.

US Cellular Offers LG Banter

U.S. Cellular is now officially offering the LG Banter, which is a candybar phone, albeit with a sideways sliding QWERTY keyboard. Aside from the handy keyboard, the phone also features a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, integrated audio playback, GPS navigation and changeable faceplates for the fashion conscious. If you’re willing to accept a 2-year contract, you’ll be able to pick up the LG Banter for just $49.95.

Poor LG Arena Tortured

We do sometimes question why folks like to torture cell phones that weren’t marketed as rugged devices, but we figure that some folks out there like to know how well their phones fare against water and being driven over. Hint: They usually don’t fare too well. Of course, if you’re looking to pick up a LG Arena and have a particular fondness for this kind of testing, you can check out some of the pictures of the poor device being abused.
LG Moves 20m QWERTY Handsets

If you’re looking to talk about figures and statistics, LG certainly has one, and a rather impressive one at that. It seems that LG has sold more than 20 million QWERTY handsets worldwide, and if you take into consideration that QWERTY handsets are more of a niche product compared to normal phones, it’s certainly an impressive feat.

LG Viewty Smart?

Pictures of the LG Viewty II have surfaced. A blog post that was supposedly wrongly posted on LG’s German blog (how often does that happen?) hinted that the device was called the Viewty Smart, though there isn’t any official word as to whether the name will stick, since the post has been pulled. Of course, some eagle eyed person managed to jot down the details at a trade-show a few months back, which gives us:
- 12.4mm thin, 90g
- S-Class 3D UI
- 3-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) touchscreen display
- Quad-band GSM, HSPA, WiFi, aGPS
- 8 megapixel Schneider-Kreuznach camera, Xenon flash

LG GW610 Coming

Fans of smartphones from LG will be glad to hear that the GW610 should be on its way. There isn’t much information on this phone just yet, but unofficial details seem to indicate that this device could be powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, sport a 320 x 320 touchscreen display, 2-megapixel camera, support H.264 and UMTS support.

LG SV710 Launches Business Phone

When you’re in business, you certainly want your mobile phone to look classy and professional. Unfortunately most of us won’t be able to afford one of Nokia’s Vertu’s, though the latest SV710 from LG will certainly give users a cheaper option to impress clients. The SV710 has a high-gloss blue body, which is dubbed the “Suit”. It also features a clock display with LED light on the front panel, account and car diaries, 3-megapixel camera and video recording capability. You can expect to fork out around 400,000KRW ($300) to 500,000KRW ($379) for this phone.

LG Viewty II Coming This June

The LG Viewty II GC900 might not be officially launched yet, but we’ve seen enough of the phone in pictures to know that it exists. Now unofficial word has come out that the device will be released by Orange UK in June this year, hinting that the phone might be available in other European countries too. While the price isn’t known just yet, the 8-megapixel camera and WVGA touchscreen display that it has, not to mention the 32GB of built-in memory, will certainly help people ignore the price tag, however much it may be.

LG Aiming to Ship More Of LG Cookie

LG is looking to serve some good news, as it has announced the that LG Cookie, one of the most affordable touchscreen phones ever, has recorded sales of more than 2 million worldwide. Of course, considering that LG is looking to expand it, it’s planning to ship more than 8 million more units of the handset, expanding worldwide when it has hit 10 million units.
LG GM310 Announced In Korea

LG has officially announced 3 new music phones in Korea today. The LG GM310, GM210 and GM205 will feature Dolby Mobile and its new LG Sound Engine to enhance sound output. These phones will also feature dedicated music buttons for quick access to music player controls and a USB connector to simplify file transfer. The LG GM310 will sport a 3-megapixel camera, microSD card expansion up to 32GB and touch sensor buttons while the GM210 and GM205 will feature a 2-megapixel camera with microSD card slot that supports up to 4GB cards. These phones should hit regions like Mexico, Asia, Brazil and Latin America.

Verizon LG enV3 Spotted

Verizon’s version of the LG enV3 has been spotted, and as usual, it’s blurry. At a glance, there doesn’t seem to be too much different from the enV3, though upon closer inspection, you can see some minor differences such as the numeric keypad, QWERTY layout that has been tweaked a bit and the upgraded camera which is now a 3-megapixel module. This phone might not be for everyone, but it certainly has its fans.

A leaked picture of the upcoming LG Xenon has appeared online, and it’s blurry, which is almost customary, if not mandatory. The device is rumored to hit AT&T’s network when it’s released. The rumored date is April 9th, so we’ve only got a short wait to confirm that. The OS of the device is said to be fairly similar with Samsung’s TouchWIZ, as it will rely heavily on Widgets. Features of the device include:

- Dual-band UMTS/HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz)
- 950 mAh battery
- 240 × 480 2.8-inch LCD display
