Steering Wheel for iPhone and iPod Touch
Posted on: Posted on August 7, 2009 10:59 AM

The title explains it all. CDA Digital's new accessory for the iPhone and iPod touch is a steering wheel that does nothing more than to hold the iPhone or iPod Touch while playing a racing game, giving the gamer a slightly more realistic feel of the game and not to mention a little more style too. The basic version has only the wheel, so the player still has to hold it up in the air in addition to the weight of the smartphone. The second has a base with a suction cup mount that attaches to a flat surface, sparing the gamer some muscle work. Needless to say, it works, and no electronics are involved in the steering wheel and therefore should not cost too much, probably somewhere between $20 to $30.

iPhone Magnetometer
Posted on: Posted on May 8, 2009 10:09 AM

Pictures of the iPhone with a magnetometer menu have surfaced online, confirming that there will most likely be sure a feature in a future version of the iPhone’s firmware or even a future hardware revision. Of course, there isn’t any official confirmation on such a feature yet, but it’s hard to ignore these things when screenshots appear, don’t you think?
iPhone 3.0 Age Restriction Controls
Posted on: Posted on May 7, 2009 10:30 AM

It looks like we’ll definitely be seeing some age restriction settings for the apps in Apple’s App Store. Pictured of some age restriction settings have appeared, giving credibility to the story. There isn’t any mention of who will actually be the one to determine the rating of an app, Apple or the developer? Hopefully with this in place, getting your apps listed on Apple’s App Store will be much easier and quicker.

Apple iPhone App Ads Pay Well
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 11:32 AM

A report online indicates that breaking into the top 100 list for the App Store is certainly rewarding. It seems that top apps on the App Store make somewhere around $400 to $5,000 per day on ads. With those interesting figures, it certainly isn’t surprising to see that many people are developing apps for the iPhone instead of other platforms.
Lemonade Tycoon For Your iPhone
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 11:23 AM

Most of us have played games like Railroad Tycoon or Theme Hospital at some point in our lives. Now iPhone owners will be able to experience a similar thrill directly on their iPhone, thanks to the Lemonade Tycoon app, which is going for free. One of the rather confusing parts of the app is its tendency to ask you survey questions. Every now and then you’ll be presented with a general question, and we’re fairly sure that the information collected is sent somewhere to be processed. As long as you don’t provide information that is too detailed, it shouldn’t be too much a price to pay for a fun game.
myWireless Mobile For iPhone
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 11:18 AM

You might have used Verizon’s account management application for the BlackBerry a while ago, but it looks like the AT&T has (rightfully) turned its attentions to the iPhone users and is offering the “myWireless Mobile” app for the iPhone, allowing users to check usage, modify account settings and even pay their bills directly on the iPhone. Not only is it a handy app to have, it’s also free, which is a bonus.
Sony Black Tribute Concept Phone
Posted on: Posted on May 6, 2009 10:56 AM

Everybody loves the design of Apple’s iPhone/iPod touch, but if anybody was to come up with a design that might be possible to rival Apple’s baby, it would have to be Sony. It’s still a concept design, but we certainly like what we see. Designer Jaren Goh came up with the Sony Black Tribute, which if released, will certainly give the iPhone a good run for its money. It’s certainly a touchscreen, with an aluminum case, and 3.2-megapixel camera. Would you pick this over an iPhone if it became an actual retail item?
Resubmit Your iPhone Apps?
Posted on: Posted on May 5, 2009 8:43 PM

Will Apple start allowing more applications with questionable content on the App Store in the future? We all know that Apple will be expanding its parental controls with the iPhone OS 3.0. It seems that some folks who have had apps rejected in the past have been notified that they may resubmit their apps in the future, possibly hinting that Apple might be loosening their approval process for apps after the introduction of the iPhone OS 3.0.
Replace Water Damaged iPhones
Posted on: Posted on May 5, 2009 8:35 PM

Reports have surfaced that Apple has come up with a new policy that allows iPhone owners to replace their water-damaged iPhones for a free. Instead of getting a new iPhone at full price, you’ll be able to pick up a refurbished iPhone for $199, assuming that your device failed due to an out-of-warranty encounter with water.
iPhone Supports Epson Printing
Posted on: Posted on May 5, 2009 6:43 PM

Epson must be purring at the prospect of getting some profit out of the whole iPhone deal. Thanks to EuroSmartz, Ltd, the company has come up with a Print & Share app, which allows photos, business documents, PDF files, web pages, e-mail and more are able to be printed to Epson printers via your iPhone. The unfortunate thing is that it doesn’t allow wireless printing just yet, so you’ll need to tether your Apple device via USB connection, or print over a network. The Print & Share app is currently available on the App Store for $6.99. You can read the full press release here.
FliPhone Controls Helicopter
Posted on: Posted on May 5, 2009 6:10 PM

By now we all know that the iPhone can do a million different things, but what about controlling a radio-controlled airplane or helicopter? Well, thanks to the app FliPhone, you can do that via the touchscreen and built-in accelerometer. Of course, it might not be as accurate as using the actual remote control meant for the toy, but it certainly is going to make you look a cool (and a whole lot geekier) than your friends who don’t already own an iPhone.
RIM Better Than Apple In Q1
Posted on: Posted on May 5, 2009 10:45 AM

Knocking Apple’s iPhone off its comfortable perch at the very top isn’t an easy feat, so hats off to RIM who’s BlackBerry Curve has managed to demote the iPhone to second spot in terms of consumer smartphone market share. RIM’s smartphone market share increased by 15%, bringing the total to nearly 50% of the smartphone market, which is certainly more enjoyable, especially since Apple and Palm saw their market share decline by about 10%. Will the upcoming release of the Palm Pre and (rumored) new iPhone help those companies make up for lost ground to RIM?

Might this “improved screen” be an 800 x 480 iPhone display that we’ve been dreaming about? We certainly hope this turns into a reality come June. Fingers crossed.

Solid Gold iPhone
Posted on: Posted on May 4, 2009 10:14 AM

Everybody has an iPhone nowadays that might not be as cool as it once was to own an iPhone, so what can you do to make the iPhone cool again? Well, you could always get a solid gold iPhone from Stuart Hughes, guaranteed to set you apart from the others (aside from those who also have $34,000 to buy this). The device is finished and polished by hand, and let’s not ignore the 53 diamonds that decorate the Apple logo. To be honest, it might actually be smarter to spend the 34 grand on something like a necklace that doesn’t go out of fashion easily, instead of a tech item that might be obsolete in a few months time. That being said, if you’re dripping gold, this will certainly be your thing.
Proprietary iPhone Chips Next Year?
Posted on: Posted on April 30, 2009 5:45 PM

It’s widely known that Apple has been planning to design a family of exclusive chips to power its future iPhone and multi-touch handheld products, though now it seems like such chips may not materialize until sometime next year. Apple is understandably worried that knowledge about its iPhone to leave the company, which is reasonable, considering the impressive popularity of the iPhone. That being said, it sure pours cold water on any hope that the upcoming iPhone 2009 will have these new chips.
Gmail Mobile Gets Mute Feature
Posted on: Posted on April 30, 2009 10:11 AM

Gmail addicts who are using Apple’s iPhone or Google’s Android will most likely welcome the addition of the “mute” feature to Gmail mobile. The feature, which allows you to mute a conversation and keep the additional follow up emails for that conversation out of the inbox, is already available on the full (web) version of Gmail, and the addition of it in Gmail mobile is certainly a step forward in the right direction.

Posted on: Posted on April 29, 2009 6:38 PM
Looking to purchase some property? Well, if you own an iPhone, you might want to check out the Zillow iPhone app, which allows you to view real estate information on homes around you, using GPS. As you walk or drive through a neighborhood, the GPS will track your position and display real-time estate information and data as you go, such as estimated home values, homes for sale and recently sold homes. Of course, you won’t have to go there if you don’t want to, you can always search by neighborhood. Zillow reportedly has data on about 95% of the homes in the country, including photos and contact information for 3.4 million for-sale listings. Impressive.
