HTC Maple At CTIA?

According to a recently listing at Bluetooth SIG, HTC’s new BlackBerry-esque Windows Mobile smartphone is just about ready to be released. We’re talking about the HTC Maple, which will supposedly sport a 2.4-inch QVGA display, Qualcomm 7228 processor closed at 528MHz, 2.0 megapixel camera, and 156MB RAM/256MB ROM. If the rumblings are correct, HTC will be showcasing this device at CTIA, which will start on Monday.

HTC Maple Rumored For April Release

It’s not an official announcement or anything, but news is filtering out on the Internet that HTC’s upcoming Maple will be launched at CTIA in April. There isn’t too much in terms of details of this phone just yet, but it certainly looks like an interesting phone, so hopefully we’ll be able to get the official announcement come April.
HTC Maple Delayed?

Word is going around that HTC’s Maple might be delayed. While it was initially reported to be launched in May, there are rumblings that HTC doesn’t want to divert attention from its 2 flagship products in the first half of 2009, which will result in the HTC Maple being pushed back to around August 2009. This is certainly a blow to fans of Windows Mobile Standard, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, doesn’t it?
HTC Maple Gets Bluetooth SIG Certification

The HTC Maple has already been leaked a couple of times, so it should be quite on track to be released in May, which is the rumored release time. Now the device has taken one more step closer to being released, as it has just received Bluetooth SIG certification. The HTC Maple is aimed for T-Mobile USA, and should replace the T-Mobile Dash.

Pictures of the HTC Maple were leaked back in January, and now more pictures of it have surfaced. This update to the HTC Excalibur is a 3G Windows Mobile Standard device that also sports a trackball, similar to those commonly found on RIM’s BlackBerry. From the pictures that are available, it can be seen that the device is quite slim, albeit still rather wide. Unfortunately the full specifications of the device haven’t been released just yet. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated as more information surfaces.
