OS 4.5 For Verizon BlackBerry 8830
Posted on: Posted on March 30, 2009 6:20 PM

Most might think that Verizon’s BlackBerry 8830 is on its way out, but it looks like Verizon is set to inject one last breath into it as an official OS update from 4.2 to 4.5 has been made available. Of course, it’s nothing special if you’re on Sprint, considering that Sprint has already offered the 4.5 upgrade for its 8830 a while ago. Still, it’s nice to keep up with the Joneses, right?

Hacked New Firmware For Android
Posted on: Posted on February 6, 2009 9:20 AM

Not too fond of the official firmware for your G1? Well, you could always try the custom firmware, JF, which has been recently updated to reflect the new features of the G1 RC-33 update. This custom firmware has features such as multi-touch, auto-rotate and some other goodies. One thing to note is that this custom firmware doesn’t include the radio update, which was deliberately left as a separate update. As usual, remember that flashing your phone to a custom firmware is a dangerous thing, so don’t blame us (or anybody else) if you accidentally brick your phone in the process.

Google Android Firmware RC33
Posted on: Posted on February 3, 2009 7:03 AM

It looks like users of T-Mobile’s G1 will be getting a new firmware update for their beloved Android-powered device. Word is out that T-Mobile will be rolling out a new firmware version for the device, which is version 1.1 RC33. This update will be pushed OTA (Over The Air), and will have several bug fixes, as well as a few new enhancements like the ability to use the Google Voice Search. This isn’t the coveted Cupcake update, so it looks like we’ll have to wait a while more for that. The good news is that this update should be available on February 15th.

T-Mobile Pulls European BlackBerry Bold
Posted on: Posted on January 29, 2009 5:53 AM

European BlackBerry users who are on T-Mobile might not be too happy at what’s coming from T-Mobile in Europe. It seems that there is a bug on the BlackBerry Curve that causes overage on customers’ plans, and therefore T-Mobile has pulled the Curve off shelves, and taken the Bold down too, just to play safe. Hopefully a new firmware is all that it will take to sort the problems out.

Sprint Diamond Leaked Firmware
Posted on: Posted on January 16, 2009 2:15 PM

Folks using a Sprint Diamond will want to take note that a new ROM for it has been leaked online. It’s not the official firmware yet, but it is supposedly a test version of an expected upgrade and includes Internet Explorer 6 (6on6). Do remember that it’s a CDMA ROM, so don’t try to flash it to a GSM Diamond.
