Rhodium Visits The FCC

It looks like HTC’s Rhodium has gotten the FCC’s nod of approval. This variant of HTC’s Touch Pro2 should be available from T-Mobile, as the FCC’s documentation indicates a device that supports T-Mobile’s 1700MHz 3G band, as well as EDGE and GSM. The device should be available late spring, and will feature a revamped design, tilting keyboard and 3.6-inch display with 480 x 800 resolution. Other features of the Rhodium include Windows Mobile 6.1, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 3.2-megapixel camera.

Sony Ericsson w518a Visits The FCC

It’s that time of the week again, and Sony Ericsson has sent its W518a over to the FCC for certification, which it received, of course. This updated version of the W508a will sport HSDPA, and most likely a 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and external music controls. Expect to see this device on AT&T sometime soon.

Motorola A4500 Visits The FCC

An FCC filing has revealed some details on a Motorola A4500 world phone. The device will supposedly support CDMA for Verizon Wireless’ network, and also quad-band GSM for Vodafone customers. At a glance, the device looks very much like the Motorola Q9, but the device actually sports features like a 2-megapixel camera, EV-DO, stereo Bluetooth, Windows Mobile and a biometric fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone itself.

Sony Ericsson W995 Visits The FCC

Sony Ericsson’s W995 has decided to take a trip to the FCC for approval, which is certainly good news for those who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this phone. Specifications wise, it’s certainly a good phone, since it sports a 8.1-megapixel camera, 8GB of internal memory, 2.6-inch QVGA scratch-resistant screen, aGPS, Wi-Fi, stereo speakers and Walkman player 4.0. The bad news however, is that there isn’t any mention of the 850/1800/1900 MHz WCDMA bands that we’re looking for, so this might actually be a European variant of the device. Hopefully we’ll be seeing the North American variant, the W995a, sometime soon.

Sony Ericsson CS8 Visits The FCC

It’s not real surprise, but it’s still pleasant to hear news that a variant of Sony Ericsson’s C905 will be reaching America via T-Mobile. Dubbed the CS8, the device will sport an 8.1-megapixel camera and also support T-Mobile’s 3G bands. You can expect this megapixel monster to be available around June 24th. You might want to start saving some of those pennies in the meantime.

Nokia Dual Slider Phone Visits The FCC

Nokia fans stateside might be in for a treat, as an unknown dual-sliding CDMA Nokia phone has shown its face in the FCC filing. There isn’t a name on the device yet, but it certainly looks like it could belong in Nokia’s N-series lineup. The phone will sport a 3-megapixel camera, microSD card expansion, 3.5mm headphone jack, EV-DO Rev. A and Bluetooth 2.0. There isn’t any indication of whether the device will be using S40 or S60, so we’ll have to wait and see how that turns out.

LG Secret CF750 Visits The FCC

It looks like we’re one step closer to getting the LG Secret, as the device has been spotted at the FCC. The LG CF750, as it’s called, will most likely be headed to AT&T’s network, especially since the FCC pictures have the device covered with AT&T branding. In case you forgot, the phone will feature popular features such as Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card expansion, a 5-megapixel camera and much more. It looks like it’s time to start saving those pennies.

T-Mobile HTC S522 Visits FCC

T-Mobile HTC S522 Visits FCC

It looks like the HTC S522 has taken the time to pay the FCC a visit, under its MAPL100 (Maple) codename. Featuring 3G on the AWS band, it would be fully compatible with T-Mobile’s HSPA network, though there isn’t any mention of whether its new Inner Circle service will be included or not. Bearing in mind that we’ll most likely see an unbranded S522 being sold stateside this summer, T-Mobile certainly won’t get much North American exclusivity with this phone.

Motorola i465 Hits The FCC

Everybody’s preference is different, but we’re fairly sure that most people would be a little shocked when they take a peek at Motorola’s i465, its first full-QWERTY iDEN phone. We’re not going to elaborate on its looks, as you can decide for yourself based on the picture, but if for some reason you’re itching to get this, it shouldn’t take too long, as the device has just passed the FCC’s testing, bringing it some step closer to you. Beauty or the beast? Drop us a comment and let us know what you think.

It’s certainly a late entrant, but better late than never, right? The Sidekick will be joining the ranks of the 3G phones soon, thanks to a new device that has paid the FCC a visit. Based on the details that are available, this upcoming Sidekick, which will be manufactured by Sharp, will be compatible with T-Mobile’s 3G network. It’ll be interesting to see how users react to this new development, as the trend nowadays is to go for Apple’s insanely popular iPhone 3G.

Nokia N97 Hits The FCC

We’ve been waiting for it, and Nokia’s N97 has finally seen fit to pay a visit to the FCC, albeit in pink, though we’re certainly not complaining. The device sports GSM/EDGE 850/1900 and WCDMA band II, FM transmitter, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. A user manual is also available, of course. It’s not important, but we’re just curious whether the device will actually be available in pink when it hits retail stores.

HTC Magic Visits The FCC

Waiting eagerly for the HTC Magic? Well, you’re one step closer to it, as the FCC has given its blessing to the phone. The T-Mobile G2, which is the HTC Magic, will sport the 1700MHz band of HSPA, not to mention the 2100MHz band for Europe and Asia. While we’re talking connectivity, it also has Wi-Fi with UMA to support Hotspot@Home. Additional good news comes in the form of the camera being bumped from the stock 3.2-megapixels to a 5-megapixel camera. There isn’t an official word as to when the device will be officially released, or even pricing, but it should be fairly safe to say that the device will be heading towards a US release some time soon.

LG LTE Approved By The FCC

LG LTE Approved By The FCC

LG has come out with what looks like one of the first Long Term Evolution device approved for use in the US. The single-band device, currently known as “LTE User Equipment, is only good for 1700MHz AWS band transmissions. No other information on this item is available. Bear in mind that this is NOT a phone, but it’s good to see that LTE is gaining ground, and it looks like it’s only a matter of time before phones that support LTE become commonplace, just like 3G devices are all around nowadays.

It seems that the LG VX11000 has paid a visit to the FCC to gain its approval. Despite its rather long name, there isn’t much information available on the device, aside that it’s a CDMA phone with Bluetooth and EV-DO. It looks like we’ll have to play the waiting game to find out the full details of this upcoming phone. Stay tuned!

Obama Wants Genachowski To Helm FCC

Obama Wants Genachowski To Helm FCC

The FCC is a great source of upcoming phones, as we’re always going through the FCC reports to see what we can dig up, so it’s no surprise that we’ve waiting to see who ends up as Chairman of it. Since Republican Kevin Martin has resigned, President Obama has nominated Julius Genachowski to replace Michael Copps, the current acting Chairman of the FCC. He’ll have to be confirmed by the Senate Commerce Committee before he can become the Chairman, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens after this.

Samsung M810 Visits The FCC

The FCC has given its nod of approval to the Samsung SPH-M810, which has sparked off rumors that this is the Samsung Instinct Mini. Obviously there isn’t anything official on this just yet, but at least this phone has one less hurdle to jump over before its official release. The only scrap of new information that could be dug up on this phone is that it will supposedly include PTT (Push-to-Talk), which would be rather interesting. Are you waiting eagerly for the Samsung Instinct Mini?
