China Mobile Preps Its Own App Store

The world’s largest mobile operator, China Mobile, intends to launch its own application software store which should be ready by the end of the year. China Mobile’s store will be dubbed Mobile Market. It’s been said that the Mobile Market was one of the reasons why the launch of the iPhone 3G failed in China, as Apple wasn’t too happy with competition for its extremely popular App Store.

Unicom To Get Apple iPhone In China?

It’s certainly taken a long while, and we don’t have any official closure of the issue just yet, but it seems that China Unicom might have just pipped China Mobile in terms of vying to be the carrier for Apple’s insanely popular iPhone. A posting on China Unicom’s page shows the iPhone’s specs, so there is a strong indication that they’ll be getting the iPhone real soon.

China Mobile Gets HTC Magic

China Mobile Gets HTC Magic

China Mobile has secured a pre-production unit of the G2 aka HTC Magic in preparation for the handset launch in May. The device is a customized version of the HTC Magic which has undergone extensive modifications to its interface and user specifications to complement the workings of China’s own TD-SCDMA network system. The G2 does not however come with 3G and Wi-Fi features. No information is available on pricing for now.
