Motorola W7 Going To China
Posted on: Posted on April 28, 2009 10:01 AM

Different people have different taste, that’s for sure, but it will certainly be interesting to see if anybody will actually think that the (unannounced) Motorola W7 is attractive. The device has just received China’s telecom certification, which is similar to getting the FCC’s approval. The device will reportedly sport a 2.2-inch QVGA display, secondary video camera for video calls, microSD card expansion, and FM radio and will support China’s 3G network. The device should be available in May 2009.

Fake Lamborghini Vertu Phone From China
Posted on: Posted on April 20, 2009 10:40 AM

We often complain of the number of fake/clone devices that are shipped out from China, so it’s only fair that we should applaud them for some originality – of sorts. Considering that there is no such thing as a Vertu Lamborghini phone, you’ll have to admit that this phone is rather “original”. Of course, it’s not a real Vertu, and most certainly doesn’t have any backing for Lamborghini, but if you’re trying to fake looking classy, you could always give this a try, albeit being a (very) long shot. The device purportedly sports (no pun intended):
- 2.6-inch QVGA display, possibly a touchscreen
- Media player
- FM radio
- Camera
- Bluetooth

iPhone Wants In On China
Posted on: Posted on February 10, 2009 10:11 AM

Ever wonder how hard it would be to get Apple’s iPhone to sell in China? Aside from all the obvious iPhone-clones out there, it isn’t an easy job trying to convince China Mobile to support the device, and details on the negotiations have (somehow) managed to find its way online. Apparently, Steve Jobs and Tim cook had problems agreeing on Apple’s request that China Mobile share 20%-30% of their monthly iPhone revenues. China Mobile was also reluctant to meet Apple’s demand of $600 per iPhone. After all has been said and done, even if the iPhone does make it safely into China, there is another issue of getting the App Store up, as China Mobile sees it as competition to China’s mobile internet industry. Fortuantely we’re not in charge of distributing Apple iPhones.
